Full description	Turnpike Road and tollgate, Bramber. View looking west along the Street below the castle ruins, with tree in right foreground and cottages with gardens on the right. In background a horse-drawn cart comes through the toll gate with the toll keeper's cottage on the left. The road became a turnpike in 1764 and reverted to being toll-free in 1885.
