Short title | Stamp House, North Bersted, Bognor Regis |
Full description | The Stamp House, North Bersted, Bognor Regis. Interior view showing room decorated with "serpents" or garlands of postage stamps. The decoration using stamps was begun in Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee year, 1897, when Richard Sharpe, landlord of the Rising Sun Pub, accepted a wager to decorate one room entirely with stamps from his collection. Over the following years, stamps were added to other rooms and the building became known as the Stamp House. |
