Full description | Photographer Frederick Henty posed with horses, Crawley. Henty stands between two horses, one blck and one white. He is feeding them grass. Henty is dressed smartly in a suit with bow tie, overcoat and hat. Frederick Henty (b.1881, d.1956) started a travelling photography business based at Guildford in 1903 and moved to 33 Albany Road (later 31), Crawley around 1925. He had three children: Mildred b.1920, Irene b.1922 and Frederick Percy b.1924. After 1941 he acquired premises at 2, The Square, High Street and after his death in 1956 Frederick Percy and Irene (returned from Canada) took over the business and moved it to the newly built Martletts. F.P. Henty died in 1982 and the business closed in 1985. Original loaned and then subsequently donated by Irene Henty. Frederick Henty Collection. Roger Bastable Project. |
