Full description | St. James Church, Selham. Close up of 11th C. chancel arch South capital. The stone ornamentation of the lower impost capital presents, in the Viking style, an intertwined monster and serpent motif, the monster is biting its own tail. The middle section of the capital has a two strand interlaced acanthus scroll. The top impost is square and has two strand, half-round interlacements. |
