Short titleSt Peter Church, Slinfold
Full descriptionSt Peter Church, Slinfold. Designed by Benjamin Ferrey and built in 1861. Stone structure with clock tower and broach spire. The spire became unsafe and was replaced by a tower in 1969-70. Windows in the Gothic style. Grave stones around the church. This war memorial on the right with flagpole was funded by the Slinfold branch of the Comrades of the Great War in the face of opposition from the local gentry and rector who erected a separate inscribed screen memorial in the church. See Diana Chatwin's book Slinfold Street (Slinfold Society, 2000) pp.30-31. Two girls wearing hats are walking down the road.
