Full description | West Dean House and estate, near Chichester. The house was enlarged by architect James Wyatt from 1804. The estate was acquired by William Dodge James in 1891. William's son Edward, who was to become an aesthete, art collector, poet and traveller, inherited the estate in 1912 at the age of four, taking control in 1932. St Andrew's Church is on the left. The house is now a specialist arts college. Hand coloured postcard. Flowers and trees. |
