Full description | West Dean House, park and estate, near Chichester. The house was enlarged by architect James Wyatt from 1804. The estate was acquired by William Dodge James in 1891. Battlements decorate the top of the house. Flag. Central window in Gothic style. William's son Edward, who was to become an aesthete, art collector, poet and traveller, inherited the estate in 1912 at the age of four, taking control in 1932. The house is now a specialist arts college. |
