Full description | St. Mary's Church, Yapton. Interior looking west. Dates c1180-1220. Wooden beam ceiling with tie-beams and kingposts, stone arches, lamps, wooden pews. Font in background. Note the unfinished carvings on columns on the right. This was due to labour shortages caused by relocating workers to Chichester Cathedral when labourers became scarce due to the results of the Black Death. |
