Full description | Sun D'Or, Industrial Estate, Crawley. Sun d'Or was a factory that manufactured sweets. Sun d'Or had 150, mainly female workers whose hours were adjusted so that they started work at 7.30am and finished work at 4pm. This was to make sure that they could make their families' evening meals. Most of Crawley new town's factories were built between 1950 and 1963, however there was continual development for over thirty years and by 1985 the industrial estate covered 300 acres.
