| Full description | Bastable's Fish Shop, High Street, Crawley. This take-away was opened in the 1930s and taken over by Peter and Janet Bastable (Crawley local historian Roger Bastable's parents) in the 1950s. This photograph was taken just before the fish and chip shop was closed in 1990 on Peter and Janet's retirement. Seen here are (from left) Peter Bastable, Janet Bastable, (nee Johnson) and Ethel Bastable, Roger's aunt(nee Lay).
