Full description | A. E. Bastable & Sons Fishmongers, High Street, Crawley. Phillip Bastable (left) and Albert Bastable (Crawley local historian Roger Bastable's uncle and grandfather) stand at the front of their Fishmongers beside a glass fridge displaying fish. The building was originally constructed for Mr. Richard Hall in the 1770s. During the middle of the 19th Century it was the Morning Star Inn. In the 1880s the building housed Eli Yetman's Butcher Shop. By the 1890s it had been divided into two shops; a Butchers and a Fishmongers. In 1920 the Fishmongers was bought by the Bastable family.
