| Full description | Christmas Calendar, Walter Gardiner Photography, Worthing. A Christmas calendar produced by the staff of Walter Gardiner Photography. It shows four members of the Walter Gardiner team dressed up in Victorian clothes, sprinkled with fake snow, and holding various props. From left to right: Michael Hemsley (Partner in the business), Derek Gardiner (Partner), Julian Tate (Second Photographer) and Karl (Junior Black and White Printer). The renowned national title 'Ilford Photographer of the Year' was won by Derek Gardiner FBIPP in 1984, twice by Michael Hemsley FBIPP in 1985 and 1989. Julian Tate LBIPP took the trophy in 1992, the final year the competition was run. The Walter Gardiner Photographic Studio was the only company to have its employees win the national award four times. This image is linked to an ephemera collection entitled 'A Christmas Photomime'.
