Buildings include the Church of St John the Evangelist with spire, houses, and farm buildings. Mrs Ada Marshall, wearing a long skirt, apron and straw hat, wields the punting pole. Her mother Jane Shepherd, who was ferrywoman until the early 1900s, sits in the boat wearing a hat and apron and with a shopping basket. The ferry continued to operate until the mid-1950s. |
