Short title | Polcats Cottage, Wiston, Steyning |
Full description | Polcats Cottage, Wiston, Steyning. Two men and two children stand outside Polcats Cottage, Washington Road, Buncton, Wiston. The children keep themselves occupied while the two men converse, standing on a wooden bridge. One of the men is probably a farmer as he is in workers clothes and holds a staff. The other man, presumably the owner of the cottage, wears clothes of a higher class. One of the young girls holds a bucket, and is looking to the ground. Three images are attached to this file number; The first is a digitally retouched version of the image, the second is the image in its original state and the third is a scan of the back of the image. The third image shows that this photograph was sent via the post. The addressee's details are written as 'Mrs Laker, Polcats, Whiston (sic) Cross Road, Steyning, Sussex'. Some of the sender's information is also included, and seems to say 'From Kate, 225 Long Lane, Bermondsey'. The stamps (one red, one blue) and the post mark reveals the date (28th June 1888) the image was sent. |
