| Description | Miss Boykett attended St Hugh's College, Oxford, and began her teaching career in 1916 at schools in Oxford and then Derby. She was headmistress of the Junior Preparatory School in Bournemouth, joint-owned St George's School in Boscombe, and then bought West Preston Manor in 1933. She remained as headmistress until the school closed in 1979, when she was 86. She lived in West Preston House, opposite the front gate of the school, for the next five years or so, and then moved into the Extra Care Unit in West Preston Manor, which was run by Help the Aged., where she died. |
